“This type of injury happens when the ankle bends in an unusual way. When Ms. Adams twisted it, her ankle might have rolled simultaneously with the twist, causing her to split a ligament that holds the two lower leg bones together. As I mentioned, she didn’t fracture the bone, but she did tear a ligament. She’s actually quiet lucky the tear is already healing and doesn’t require surgery like most patients do. The good news is, she will most likely heal if she continues to not put too much pressure on it, and with the assistance of a walking boot, she may be able to walk around when needed,” he explains.

I’m taking in his words, but as I absorb them, they’re scrabbling around in my head as they all blend together. The only thing I understand is not being able to run. It’s my worst fear, what I was praying would never happen. The anguish of knowing I cannot do the one thing I began to do to take the pain away is now gone.

I feel Matt trying to comfort me by holding me and whispering reassuring words into my ear, but it isn’t helping as I take in the realization that the one thing that bonded us together is now gone for the next six months.

“It’s okay, Abigail, it’s not forever, it’s only temporary,” he continues to whisper into my ear as I sit in my shocked state.

“He’s correct. You’ll require physical therapy when your boot is removed, but you will be able to run again,” the doctor adds to Matt’s words.

Pulling my face away from Matt’s body, I look over to the doctor to ask the one question that is most important to me at this moment. “Will I be able to run Boston?”

His face sinks, as if he’s unwilling to answer my question. “We won’t be able to know until we take an MRI of your ankle after you’ve recovered from you’re injury. I would hate to give you false hopes in case you’re unable to recover fast enough.”

  “Yes or no,” I demand.

“Ms. Adams, let’s take it one step at a time. First we need to focus on your recovering ankle, after that, you have therapy. Depending on the progress of your therapy, we’ll have an answer then,” he replies.

Pussy, as Trey would call him for not wanting to give me an answer.

“Why don’t we get you fitted for a boot and schedule a recheck for eight weeks,” he cheerfully says. “If all goes well and you follow instructions, you may just be completely healed and ready for physical therapy then,” he adds.

I hate the solution he’s providing me with, but I’m left with no choice at this point. Begrudgingly, I nod my head in agreement. I feel the brush of Matt’s lips against my brow as he squeezes my body tighter in his embrace.

An hour later, I’m wobbling out of the exam room with the ugliest damn boot I will ever wear, I know for a fact, because I’m damn well not going to be wearing something like this ever again in the future. At least I hope I won’t after this whole fiasco is over. I’m already exhausted from this morning and all I want to do is go home.

I’M LYING ON the couch with Abigail draped across my chest. The couch is wide enough for the both of us to lie side by side, but this is the way I prefer to be. I think she likes it just as much since she was the one who had climbed on top of me. At first another idea had come to mind, but when she made herself comfortable with her head facing the TV to watch what was on, I’d gotten the point she just wanted to lie here with me as she watched her show.

I could care less what was on TV, as long as it kept her with me. My hand slowly caresses up and down her back so I can feel more of her, even if it’s through a layer of clothing. It’s enough for me to keep this blissful feeling I have when she’s near.

I know she’s upset about not being able to run this morning. The weeks that have gone by and not being able to run are slowly catching up to her. The agitation was clear on her face when she woke up and the sun was shining through the window. Although the pancakes I’d made her brought a smile to her face, it was quickly diminished when the sun shined through the windows. It was the perfect day to run and she couldn’t do it. I can’t blame her. When she left, she took away the one thing that made me happy: her presence. It tore at my heart not to have the one person who made me smile, so I understand how Abigail feels.

A commercial comes on and she turns her face to look at me, her chin resting upon my chest. She gives me a simple smile and I cannot resist giving her a kiss on the nose. Her smile grows wider. “What do you want to do today, beautiful?”

I watch her smile turning into a frown as she sighs. “Since I can’t do much, this is pretty much it,” she resentfully says.

“I can think of something else we can do that wouldn’t require you to move too much,” I tease as I grab her ass, earning me a yelp.

I pull her head down with my other hand to give her a kiss, pushing my hips up between her legs. She moans into my mouth when she feels how ready I am for her. We deepen our kiss, and as I’m about to stand her up and carry her to our room, we’re interrupted when Trey walks into the house.

“Alright,” he exclaims, cheerfully pumping his fist in the air, “I made it just in time for the porno show.” I break our kiss so I can scowl at him.

“What? Don’t stop just because I’m here,” he says, tossing himself onto the other couch.

“Why are you barely getting home?” Abigail asks him, already forgetting what we were doing. My hardened dick hasn’t as it pushes itself against her hip. I lift myself again to tease her and she looks down at me, warning me to stop. I ignore her as I lift my head to kiss her on the neck, lightly sucking on her skin. I know this would normally make her weak, but instead Abigail pinches me on my side, making me wince.

I look back at Trey. “I didn’t know I had to check in with you, too. I’m not the one who’s strapped at the balls,” Trey sarcastically answers. “I was out DP'ing a young new freshman that was looking to have a little fun,” he says, his lips teasing up to one side.

“What does Dr. Pepper have to do with you being out all night?” Abigail asks, looking lost from his words. Trey’s booming laughter fills the room and I cannot help but join him, causing Abigail to become irritated. “What are you both laughing about?”

I mask the remainder of my laughter with a cough. “Beautiful, he’s not talking about Dr. Pepper,” I explain as I watch her grow even more confused. I lift my head up to her ear to explain what Trey was doing and when I pull my head back, her eyes go wide in shock as her mouth drops down.

“Trey Johnson, how can you do something like that?” she says, still shocked and obviously confused.

“It’s quiet simple,” he smugly replies. “Matt and I can show you if you’d like. We’ve shared plenty of times,” he answers with a smirk.

“Shut the fuck up, Trey,” I growl, hoping she doesn’t comprehend the meaning of his statement, but by the disgusted look on her face she clearly has. She lifts herself off my body, making me let out an exasperated breath. I sit up with her, trying to pull her back down onto me, but it doesn’t work as she yanks her arm back and starts walking away. “I’m going to go take a shower,” she firmly states without giving me a backwards glance as she wobbles her way to the room.

I look over at Trey, shooting daggers straight at him. “You couldn’t keep your fucking mouth shut, could you?”

He shrugs his shoulders. “What does she expect? She knows you weren’t a saint before she met you. Why should it surprise her what we did?”

I’m ready to kill him, but I have to tame my anger and remember this is Trey. It shouldn’t surprise me. “She might know I wasn’t a saint, but I’d rather she didn’t have to be reminded of it.”

“If you want to live your life strapped to one girl now, then that’s fine with me. Just don’t expect me to,” he demands.

“I can’t wait until you find someone. I’ll be the one laughing then,” I tell him, already making my way over to Abigail’s room to start kissing some ass, which I don’t mind doing since it’s her ass.

I find Abigail standing against the counter of the bathroom using it to balance herself while struggling to remo
ve a pair of yoga pants she’s wearing. “Here, let me help you with that,” I tell her, already reaching for her waistline. Placing her hand on my shoulder to hold on as she bears all her weight on her good leg, I carefully pull down her pants, stopping at the knees. She’s looking at me confused until I lift her up to sit on the counter, doing it so she’s not tempted to put weight on her other foot. Continuing with my task, I take her pants and underwear off, leaving her naked from the waist down. Her shirt comes off next as I make sure to keep my eyes locked onto hers.

She shyly smiles back at me and I know my tactic is working. Although she has the hint of a smile of her lips, her eyes are telling me otherwise. They looked saddened. “Tell me what’s wrong, beautiful,” I bravely say, not wanting to upset her any more than she already is.

She looks up towards the ceiling as she sighs. “I just hate how I will always be reminded of your past. Whether it’s from my memories or your friends, they will always be there,” she grimly states. “I keep telling myself I have to accept it because it’s your past, but it’s harder than expected sometimes,” she finishes with a whisper. She leans forward to rest her head against my chest, but I force her to look up at me.

“Abigail, I’ve already told you, you’re my future. It’s all I want you to remember,” I tell her before I kiss her. I slowly kiss her and by the way I feel her nails digging into my hair I know I’ve managed to distract her. My hands begin to roam up and down against her naked skin, teasing her. I reach for the clasp of her bra to unclip it so I can remove it completely from her body. I want to feel her breast in my hands. My lips gradually kiss their way down her neck, then down to her breast to take her nipple in my mouth, sucking vigorously just how she likes. Her nails dig deeper into my hair and her legs wrap around my waist pulling me tighter in between her legs. Letting go of my head, she starts tugging at my clothing, demanding I take them off. Pulling myself away from her body to remove my shorts, I use the opportunity to sink to my knees and take the center of her heat into my mouth.

I’m rewarded with a satisfied moan as her nails are once again digging into my scalp. Gradually I lap my tongue up and down her core, nipping and tugging at her clit as I purposely tease her, wanting to prolong her pleasure. It’s never taken me long to bring Abigail to the brink of ecstasy. It’s as if her body was made especially for me as I’ve memorized every touch needed to satisfy her. Hearing her breathlessly yell out my name should bring me satisfaction, but it doesn’t; being inside Abigail when she does it is what I need.

Standing up, I’m staring at a flushed and breathless Abigail. Positioning myself at her opening I hear a banging on our door. “Go away, we’re busy!” I yell out, earning me a chuckle from Abigail’s lips as she nips at my neck.

Abigail’s walls of her core surround my dick as I hear the banging once more, making me pause. I already know it’s Trey at the door. His knock is unmistakable.

“If you don’t fucking leave, Trey, I’m going to beat your fucking ass!” I yell to the door.

“You’re going to want to come out here, Matt!” he shouts back.

By the way he says the words, I already know something is wrong.

Abigail is already trying to shove me away as she attempts to wiggle her way off the counter. I stop her, holding her firmly against the counter with my hands so she doesn’t try landing on her injured ankle.

“It’s probably nothing,” I say against her lips as I kiss her to calm her nerves. “You stay here. If you move I won’t be finishing what I started,” I amusedly add.

Quickly finding my clothes, I dress and head out of the bathroom, but stop briefly to take one last glance at Abigail sitting on the counter. “I mean it, I don’t want you walking around on your ankle any more than you have to.”

I watch her roll her eyes. “Yes, doctor,” she sarcastically replies.

My eyebrow raise high. “Hmmm, now you’re giving me ideas. I’ll make sure to thoroughly examine you when I get back.” With the thought engraved in my head, I turn to leave the room, already coming up with the possibilities of what I can do as her doctor. My thoughts involve a lot more than simply touching.

From the hallway, I can see Trey pulling a beer from the fridge and I make my way straight to him. “I thought you were done being a cock blocker?” I say, watching his lips go up into a smug grin.

Within seconds my eyes avert to the reason as it catapults itself into my arms, forcing me to catch her. “I was afraid you weren’t here because I didn’t see your car outside.”

“What are you doing here, Laura?” I ask her, confused as I attempt to push her away, but she holds on to me preventing me from doing so.

“You didn’t call me when you promised you would. I got worried. I tried going straight to your room to leave my luggage, but Trey wouldn’t let me,” she expresses with a pout.

“What the hell would make you come all the way over here? You could have just called me.” This time I manage to escape her embrace, but it’s was too late as I see Abigail already standing beside me with her arms crossed over her chest.

“I told you to wait for me in the room.” The reprimand unintentionally comes out. Her eyes go straight to Laura. “I see why,” she delivers through clenched teeth.

“It’s not what you think. I didn’t even know she was here,” I tell her, feeling the need to defend myself for some odd reason. “I just didn’t want you walking around on your ankle.”

“What is she doing here?” Laura screeches from my side.

Turning back to Laura, I say, “She lives here.”

“Oh man this is getting good,” Trey announces from the kitchen.

I ignore him, making a mental note to beat his ass later for the remark. Laura delivers a disgusted look as her head whips back and forth between Abigail and me. “How convenient.”

“What is that supposed to mean?” Abigail throws back at her, the anger radiating from her eyes. I stand in between the two of them, hoping to prevent Abigail from ripping Laura’s eyes out.

“Holy, shit, I should have made some popcorn for this,” Trey whoops from behind us. Abigail whips her head at Trey, glaring at him, my eyes finding Laura’s. “She’s always lived here. Since I met her.”

“You told me you were only her assistant.”

“What does it matter to you?” Abigail snarls at Laura.

Laura’s eyes are raking Abigail’s body. “Is she another one of your convenient fucks?”

I can feel Abigail trembling at my side. I know it’s not from fear, but from the anger I can feel emanating from her body. “Laura,” I groan out as a warning before Abigail can say anything. “What are you really doing here?” I ask, knowing she wouldn’t just show up to surprise me, she never has.

With her lips in a pout she whines, “I wanted to get away from all the drama at my house. I figured I’d come stay with you for a while. You promised I was always welcome.”

I hear Abigail snicker. “By all means, Matt, let her stay. I’d hate for you to break your promise,” she sarcastically remarks.

Facing Laura again, I tell her, “You can’t stay here.”

  “Why not?”

“Because you’re not welcome!” Abigail throws back.

  “Abigail, calm down.”

Laura is now glaring at me. “Are you serious?” I know I’m playing with fire trying to stop her. “Oh, please. If you honestly believe he’ll be faithful to you, then you’re obliviously as stupid as your blonde locks make you out to be.”

  “Fuck you!”

“Abigail, let me handle this?” I try pleading, but from the daggers she’s still staring at me, I know I’m going to regret asking. “I can’t fucking believe this! Either she goes or I do and I’m not coming back this time, Matt!” I know the words are not a threat.

“By all means, leave,” Laura, mutters.

The fury is clear in Abigail’s next words. “Get the fuck out!”

“You need to leave. I was in his life first,” Laura
replies.

I’m about to speak, but Abigail beats me to it. “You either get the fuck out, or I’m going to drag your short ass out and you’ll be lucky if you leave with your limbs attached,” she says with a sneering growl.

“Oh fuck. Please. I’d love to see that happen.” Trey’s enthusiasm is making the situation worse.

“No,” Laura throws back at Abigail. “You’re probably nothing more than a quick fuck when he needs it.” Laura doesn’t even see it coming as Abigail reaches for Laura’s hair, yanking her forward and trying her best to drag her closer. Laura is frantically screaming at the top of her lungs as she stays rooted to the spot while trying to disengage herself from Abigail’s grip. I try to help, but Abigail doesn’t let up, instead her extreme force tugs Laura’s head back and forth.

Laura is still screaming with all her might for Abigail to let her go, while Abigail is cursing her to hell if she doesn’t leave. The entire time I’m begging Abigail to release Laura. Abigail finally lets up and releases her, allowing Laura to safely retreat a few steps away. The fury in Abigail’s eyes is telling me she’s ready to try again if Laura doesn’t leave.

“Are you crazy?” Laura bellows out to Abigail while grasping her disheveled hair. “Matt?” she says, looking at me as if pleading for help as I try to bring an angry Abigail under control.

  “Let me go!” she demands.

“Not if you’re going to kill her!”

Laura is still looking back at me with fear in her eyes. She’s obviously learned her lesson. “Beautiful, please, calm down,” I whisper into her ear. I feel her body relax against mine, telling me she’s heard me. “I’m done,” she lets out, allowing me to breathe again. I release her from my hold, praying she doesn’t attack Laura. My prayer is granted when I watch her stomp her way towards our bedroom.

“I wonder why I even took your ass back, Matt. This is what I meant by your past!” she yells from the hallway as I watch her slam the door behind her. Looking back at Laura, I see she’s still holding her head, her eyes wide in shock. “You have to leave, Laura,” I repeat, sternly pushing her this time.
